What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin porcelain covers that are custom made to fit over your existing teeth to improve their overall appearance. Porcelain veneers can be used to mask stained, chipped, discoloured teeth, broken teeth, uneven teeth and large fillings. A single veneer can be placed to fix a single damaged or misaligned tooth or many veneers can be placed to reshape your entire smile.

Our dentists might recommend porcelain veneers for:

  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Gapped teeth
  • Damaged teeth
  • Discoloured teeth
  • Irregularly shaped teeth
  • Crowded teeth

How will the veneer be applied to my teeth?

At the first visit, your dentist will remove and prepare part of the enamel on the tooth to make room for the veneer. An impression is made of the prepared tooth and sent to the dental laboratory where the veneer is custom made. A temporary veneer is then placed on your tooth.

At the second visit, our dentist will bond the veneer with composite resin cement to attach the veneer to the tooth. The veneer is then shaded to match the adjacent teeth.

How do I take care of my porcelain veneers?

After the procedure, it is very important to practice good oral hygiene and obtain regular checkups by visiting the dentist.
