Inlays & Onlays

Our new practice at Dentistry in Newmarket can help repair damaged teeth with full dental restorations using dental inlays and onlays.

Inlays and onlays may be a cosmetic option to fix broken, misshapen, chipped, uneven or damaged teeth. Inlays and onlays are customized and can match the original shape of your teeth. They often match your natural enamel. These restorations are custom made in-office or at the lab.

Contact our Dentistry in Newmarket team if you have any questions. We will be happy to answer any questions you have!

What is the difference between inlay & onlay?

  • Inlays: Fit just inside the grooves of a tooth, similar to a composite filling.
  • Onlays: Cover more surface area than inlays as they wrap over one or more cusps of the tooth.

What will my inlay or onlay procedure look like?

Two visits may be required for this procedure. One of our Newmarket dentists will remove the damaged, decayed, or weakened portion of the tooth. Once the tooth is removed, a mould of your teeth is made. A temporary filling will be placed on the tooth for about two weeks. At the second appointment, our dentist will then cement the restoration in place.
