What is dental bonding?
Dental bonding may be a simple way to improve the appearance of discoloured, chipped, or fractured teeth. The composite resin used in bonding can be shaped and polished to match the surrounding on the tooth. After, it is shaped and hardened with a high-intensity light. Bonding is also great for an instant repair of a broken front tooth.
Dental bonding can be used to:
- Repair chips or cracks and close gaps between teeth
- Fill in cavities and restore decayed teeth
- Fix discoloration and change the shape of a tooth
What does the dental bonding procedure look like?
During the dental bonding procedure, a resin is applied to the tooth using a high-intensity light. Once the resin is applied, the bonded resin is sculpted to your teeth and polished. After the last layer is placed and hardened by the light, it’s shaped to appear and feel like a natural tooth. The bonding procedure takes about 30 – 60 minutes per tooth to complete.
